LUSAKA – Zambia will continue to be without electricity for up to six hours every day, as its main source of energy, a hydroelectric plant in the south of the country, is working slowly due to a drastic lack of water, the government there has announced.

Drought in recent years in the southern part of Africa has already led to a large reduction in water reserves at dams.

“Power restrictions will last up to six hours a day from December 15, 2022 and until the water level rises,” said Minister of Energy Peter Kapala, reports Beta.

Zambia gets more than 80 percent of its electricity from hydropower plants.
