From now on, the information closest to elDiario.es readers is more visible on our front page, where we launch an area dedicated exclusively to giving visibility to news and articles from our local editions.
You can choose the edition that interests you the most and your preference will be saved. This way you will have a personalized cover with your local news every time you enter elDiario.es.
You will find this section before the bullet and just below the block dedicated to elDiarioAR, our international edition in Argentina, and you can customize it from the drop-down menu that appears in this section or in the header.
The operation of this new space on the front page is very simple: if you are a member of elDiario.es, by default we will show you the news of the local edition corresponding to the place of residence that you indicate in your private profile. If you want to change the edition you can do it, at any time and as many times as you want, by selecting the edition that interests you the most in the drop-down menu that is found at the top of the cover block. You will also find this menu at the top of the front page of elDiario.es. Your selection will be saved until you update it.
The rest of readers will see by default a combined selection of the latest news from Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Galicia or the Valencian Community until they select their local reference edition.
The update of the information is instantaneous, so through the drop-down you will be able to take a tour of several local editions and take a look at the last minute of other regions and cities that also interest you.
We currently have 14 local editions and we hope to announce soon the creation of new publishing alliances in Asturias, the Balearic Islands and La Rioja.
As a novelty, we also include direct access to the covers of the different local editions from the header of elDiario.es. In a couple of clicks you can jump from the front page of elDiario.es to the front page of your local edition to check the news of the day and the last hour.
When we launched the redesign of elDiario.es, last July 2020, one of our main purposes was to improve the browsing experience of our readers and the way the news is viewed. With this change, which incorporates greater personalization of the newspaper, we want to facilitate access to the news that most interest each reader.
New weekly local information bulletins
This informative reinforcement on the front page of elDiario.es is not the only novelty related to our local editions. The newsrooms of Catalonia, Andalusia, Euskadi and Navarra prepare a weekly newsletter with a selection of the most relevant news of the week. The latest addition to our newsletters has been the edition of Cordópolis, a local journalism project that recently joined the elDiario.es family of associated media. Soon we will announce new local newsletters, do not miss it! If you want to sign up for free newsletters or update your subscription preferences you can do so from here.
