The nightmare from Alone in the Dark creeps through the darkness and will frighten us this October. Creative director Mikael Hedberg, who is behind the interactive horror icons Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Soma, promises that it will be a nerve-wracking experience.
The reboot takes place in interwar 1920s Louisiana, specifically against the backdrop of the disturbing estate of the Decret family, in which a search is underway for a missing family member. You can watch the 11-minute performance above.
David Harbor (Stranger Things, Hellboy) and Jodie Comer (Free Guy, The White Princess) will play the protagonists Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. Edward and Emily are not on vacation at the Decret family estate. They are looking for Emilia’s uncle, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
The interesting thing is that you will be able to play as any of the characters, and each approach the story a little differently. They will have different reactions to the environment, different personalities and story backgrounds, and the residents of the dilapidated mansion will also react differently to them. Therefore, if you want to experience everything, a second pass awaits you.
Reboot Alone in the Dark will offer not only action, but also a good dose of logical puzzles and investigative puzzles. The haunted villa of the Decrets will be filled with footprints and shards of mosaics, from which you will piece together a disturbing story. The game will have a difficulty scale so that you can set exactly the amount of tips and hand holding that you need.
You can already try the demo version, a kind of prologue that takes place a few weeks before the events of the game. This is the same playable demo that was available to journalists at Gamescom last year.
Alone in the Dark releases on October 25th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
