Suara.com – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said on Saturday (4/7/2021) the number of funerals using the Covid-19 protocol reached 396 in a day. This is a record for the most burials in a day during the Covid-19 pandemic in the capital.
Anies also hopes that in the future the number of daily funerals under the Covid-19 protocol will decrease. He doesn’t want any more breaking the daily record of burials with the corona procedure.
“Saturday 396 (covid-19 protocol funeral). Hopefully this is the last number, hopefully the number will decrease, hopefully today the number will be lower,” said Anies in a virtual event held by PKS, Sunday (4/6/2021).
He explained that the increase in the number of funerals for COVID-19 procedures had occurred since mid-June. The numbers skyrocketed from June 26 when 157 people were buried.

Then on Sunday, June 28, 2021, the number of funerals is still high with 144 bodies a day. The next day, the number rose again to 193 bodies.
On Monday 29 June, the number of burials skyrocketed again with 279 bodies until later on 2 July the number had reached 365 bodies.
The former Minister of Education and Culture also asked the public to empathize with this condition.
He considers the increase in the number of funerals is not just a number, but people who have families and now have to lose.
“That’s not a statistic, it’s a human whose number was 396 two or three weeks ago, in good health and well-being, which they and their families were exposed to and their living conditions changed,” he concluded.
