Xiaomi presents the thin foldable phone Mix Fold 2

The foldable party continues with the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. The phone offers an unusually thin construction. Unfolded, the construction measures 5.4mm in depth and when folded, the unit is no more than 11.2mm thick.

The dimensions can be compared to 6.3mm and 14.2-15.8mm respectively for the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The hardware for Xiaomi’s phone is generally impressive on paper.

The main screen is 8″ with 1914 x 2160 pixels, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 1300 nits (temporary max), LTPO2 and a dynamic refresh rate between 1-120Hz. The panel is of the Eco2OLED type, which reduces energy consumption by 25% according to Xiaomi.

The external AMOLED screen is 6.56″ with 120Hz, Gorilla Glass Victus and aspect ratio 21:9. Thanks to the more normal aspect ratio, the Mix Fold 2 looks like a normal smartphone when the construction is folded.

The phone runs Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and offers 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The battery has 4500mAh and can be fast charged over 67W. Xiaomi has once again partnered with Leica for the camera solution.

The main camera has 50MP, OIS and Leica optics. The back also houses a 13MP super wide-angle camera and an 8MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. If it tastes good, it costs: the entry-level model (12/256GB) costs the equivalent of SEK 13,500 in China, while the top model with 1TB storage has a price of the equivalent of SEK 18,000.

Xiaomi has not mentioned anything about a possible global launch.
