Xiaomi ousts Apple in European smartphone market

Xiaomi has supplanted Apple in the European smartphone market, according to analyst Counterpoint Research. The Chinese company has now reached the second position, below Samsung.

Samsung stays undisputed market leader in Europe. The market share fell from 35.8 percent to 30.4 percent, but a worse decline was prevented thanks to the good sales of the Z Flip 3 folding phone.

Xiaomi and Apple gained market share over last year. Xiaomi went from 15.5 to 23.6 percent, Apple from 17.6 to 22.1 percent. The latter just took advantage of the iPhone 13.

OPPO has continued to rise, although this is due to the merger with OnePlus.
Realme and Vivo have also shipped more devices.

The huge loss for Huawei and Honor is striking. Huawei can no longer supply devices with Google services and its own alternative is not in the taste.
