Xiaomi 12 vs Xiaomi 12 Pro vs Xiaomi 12X: cosa cambia?

During its latest event Xiaomi presented to the Chinese public, in addition to the MIUI 13 interface, accessories such as the Xiaomi Watch S1 smartwatch and the Xiaomi TWS Earphone 3 earphones. includes Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12X.

Mobile technology enthusiasts have long awaited the presentation of the three new flagships of the Asian brand, in a sort of anticipation for what 2022 will bring in the field of telephony. The three smartphones seem at first glance very similar to each other, much more than their predecessors Xiaomi Mi 11 and Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

These three “different twins”, which are all immediately placed in the high end of the market, however, have some substantial differences: in this case the Xiaomi 12X stands out, a “quasi-flagship” with an uncertain positioning, which cannot be however, consider a real rebrand of a Lite model, since it shares many specifications and features with the base model.

We have therefore collected all the differences that, at least on paper, exist between the different models of the Xiaomi 12 range.

Display

The Xiaomi 12X and the Xiaomi 12 share the same dimensions, as well as being equipped with the same screen. The display panel mounted inside them measures 6.28 inches with Full HD (1080p) resolution. This display has obtained DisplayMate A + certification from the company of the same name and has a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, which has now become the standard for high-end smartphones.

As for the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the device stands out from the other two as it has a larger screen, which measures 6.73 inches. This panel belongs to the second generation of E5 Super AMOLED low-power display and features a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels. Just like the other models in the range, the Xiaomi 12 Pro also supports a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, to which the LTPO 2.0 Smart Refresh Rate technology is added, for an even more sophisticated management of this feature. The screen of the Xiaomi 12 Pro has also obtained DisplayMate A + certification.

Processor

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

The Xiaomi 12 and the Xiaomi 12 Pro are instead united under this front: inside them it beats Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Xiaomi 12X is instead equipped with the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC which, although part of Qualcomm’s offer for the high-end Series 8, is considered a “pseudo-flagship”.

Despite the performance just below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but also its predecessor Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, it is still an excellent chip, designed by the company to handle temperatures well even in conditions of intense use.

Camera

Xiaomi 12

Once again, the Xiaomi 12 and 12X feature a point of contact: both are equipped with the same 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor, as well as a 13MP panoramic sensor and a 5MP macro lens. To make the difference on this point is the Xiaomi 12 Pro, which adds to the main 50MP Sony IMX707 sensor a 50MP super wide-angle sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.

Battery

Like the display and camera, the Xiaomi 12 and 12X also share the same 4500 mAh battery, with support for fast charging up to 67W. However, the Xiaomi 12X, due to the choice made on the processor side, is not able to support wireless charging, while on the contrary the Xiaomi 12 powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 supports wireless charging at 50W and even reverse charging at 10W. .

Xiaomi Loop LiquidCool

As for the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the device is equipped with a 4600 mAh battery that supports fast wired charging up to 120W, wireless charging up to 50W and reverse charging at 10W.

Operating system

MIUI 13

This is the only aspect that truly unites all three smartphones in the Xiaomi 12 range. The base model, the Xiaomi 12X and the Xiaomi 12 Pro in fact share the proprietary MIUI 13 interface based on Android 12, an update with which they will be introduced on the market.

Prices and availability

All three smartphones are already available for pre-order in China, while the first official sales will take place starting December 31st. For now, there is no information on the availability of these smartphones on international markets, which should take place in any case during the first months of 2022.
