Xiaomi 12 Pro reminded me of what I like the flagships of this brand for

When the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro came to me for testing in 2020, I was delighted with the incredible attention to detail. Over the next months, I returned to using other brands to be delighted with Xiaomi Mi 11. I wrote then that even Apple has something to learn from Xiaomi.

The next months passed, the best smartphones of other brands passed through my hands. Now I have put the Xiaomi 12 Pro in my pocket and I feel a qualitative leap again.

Xiaomi 12 Pro gives you the best user experience. You should look for such attention to detail from the competition

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is impressed by small improvements that could be almost imperceptible on their own, but all of them together make doing anything intuitive and satisfying like on any other smartphone.

I have written many times about great vibrations and nothing has changed here. Xiaomi still uses their potential in a way that, in my opinion, is unrivaled. The Chinese not only used the highest class haptic engine, but also perfectly implemented it, sewing vibrations of different strength and sequence into the system.

When I use the fingerprint reader, I have the impression that my finger sinks into the display. When the fingerprint is recognized, the vibration is different from when the scan fails. This makes it easier for you to unlock your smartphone without looking.

From time to time, I press the power button too lightly and put the phone with an unlocked screen in my pocket. Xiaomi 12 Pro generates a characteristic vibration when locking, so such things do not happen. Every time I feel that the screen has been secured against accidental clicks.

When I reach the end of the scrolling list, the Xiaomi 12 Pro vibrates in a different way, which gives the impression that the list gives physical resistance. In the case of other smartphones, I sometimes brush the screen 2–3 times in this situation, because I do not know if the list is over or the screen has not registered the touch. Here I get clear, haptic feedback.

Very nice vibrations also accompany the use of any virtual buttons or knobs.

Xiaomi 12 Pro has a thoughtful, neat and intuitive interface

In MIUI 13, I immediately liked the fact that the search engine in the app drawer was placed at the bottom, and not & hairsp; – & hairsp; as in most & hairsp; – & hairsp; overlays at the top. Finally, this important interface element is within the reach of the thumb.

Xiaomi has also improved the work with floating applications that can now be minimized and anchored in the corner of the screen.

I also appreciate that the Xiaomi 12 Pro inherited from its predecessor such flavors as the animated icon of the weather application, which not only looks nice, but also gives clear information about weather conditions.

The “nice and functional” approach can be seen at every step. Already last year, I noticed, for example, that the amount of used memory space is clearly visualized in the system settings.

These are all just small details, but the sum of the small details can prove that you are using your phone well. And I use the Xiaomi 12 Pro very well.

Solid hardware also makes its own in Xiaomi 12 Pro

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is solidly optimized. Xiaomi 12 Pro slides like a rocket and it’s hard to catch him losing even a single frame of animation. 12 GB of RAM also gives a lot of comfort.

The screen is top-notch, and the built-in stereo speakers don’t disappoint. So the smartphone does not give reasons to complain also when playing games, watching movies or listening to music.

During everyday use, the 120 W fast charging cannot be underestimated. Xiaomi 12 needs only 18 minutes to finish it.

The build quality is very good. The matte back is almost completely dirt-repellent, but the side effect is that the Xiaomi 12 Pro is a hellishly slippery phone. From the usability side, it is a considerable, but probably the only serious disadvantage of this phone.

However, as I mentioned, this is not a complete review yet. We will take a closer look at the camera and other aspects in the coming days.
