WYD. Works in Lisbon will not be a problem, assures Coins

The mayor of Lisbon is not concerned about the impact of the works in the capital on World Youth Day (WYD), which will take place in the first week of August.

Speaking to journalists, on the sidelines of an initiative by the Social Network of Lisbon, this Thursday, Caros Coins assured that “many of the works will be finished before July”.

“We are working with all the contingency plans, with everything we are doing in terms of circulation, mobility, so that there is the least possible inconvenience”, assured the mayor, referring in particular to the ongoing works on the Lisbon Metro. .

“Especially the work in Campo Grande, which I know is causing people a terrible inconvenience, what the metro is responsible for is to find solutions here. We will present more solutions with Carris, more buses, we will succeed and we will help whatever is necessary.”

“The work will have to be done and I promise that it will be done before July, that’s what I hope the metro will do.”

Asked about the money that the CML plans to invest in the religious meeting, which will bring together at least one million young people in Lisbon, at the invitation of Pope Francisco, Moedas guarantees that the maximum limit he has defined will not be exceeded.

“For Lisbon, the limit I set was, from the beginning, that we would make an investment of, at most, 35 million euros. people is a big responsibility, but it will have a big return for the city.”

About the remainder of the money, the mayor of the capital says that “the Government can respond and the Church can respond”.

“With regard to Lisbon, I was the first to say ‘for investment in this Journey, I think this 35 million is the maximum’, we are still far from that number, and well, we are below that number, it is good news, we will manage to do it eventually for less.”
