Work on the station building in Prokop will be completed by October 20

Ivan Vujičić, director of the PFB company, which is the main contractor, is convinced that the construction of the “Belgrade Center” station building will be completed on time and that passengers will be able to buy the first train tickets at the beginning of October.

In the next two months, the installation of the steel structure and roof covering will be completed, and the installation of the facade structure and facade glass will be completed by 85 percent., and the installation of the brisolej, that is, the external system of solar and thermal protection, will begin. In the coming two months, the canopies will be completely completed, and the second part will be completed to a lesser extent in accordance with the dynamic plan. The layers of flat roofs, insulating works, flat layers of the floor will be completely finished by then, says Vujičić and notes that the plan is to finish the ceramic works, the technical block of the building and traffic roads and parking lots in the next two months, writes Politika.

– At the end of that period, the finishing works on the facade coverings and flashings and the work on the internal aluminium, locksmith work begin. The elevators and travelators (moving belts) have arrived and the plan is that about 70 percent of the work related to the installation will be completed in the next two months. By the end of July, the decoration of the ground floor will be half finished on both sides of the building, points out Vujičić.

The “Belgrade centar” station complex, reminds Politika, was once designed as a single unit, but it is no longer because there was a user and owner separation of the buildings at elevations 85 (underground, platform part) and 105 (the slab on which it is being built). In the future it will railways will manage only the station building, while the other 12 buildings will be office buildings of five floors each. Their investor is the company “Railway City”, the state’s partner in this business.

According to the project, the station building will have about 6,200 square meters and there will be commercial space, branches, counter service, waiting room… Around this building, on the left and right sides, four buildings of five floors each will be built, which will be functionally separated. There will be parking lots on all sides of the board, as well as a new garage on the part of the board towards Senjak. The four facilities being built next to the station building will be completed in about a year and a half, and the other eight later, but the plan is to finish them by the summer, and their construction will be completed in early 2026, according to Politika.

It is estimated that the value of the construction of the station building is approx 17 million euros.

The company “Railway City”, one of the owners of which is local businessman Branislav Grujić, got the job in the complex on Prokop after a few years ago it was the only one to respond to the state’s invitation to partner in the construction of facilities that are missing at this railway station, writes Politika. On the basis of the contract, which came under the scrutiny of “Transparency Serbia”, the state ceded the plate at elevation 105, and “Railway City” was tasked with financing and building the station building, parking lots and business facilities on the board in phases..

When it assumed the role of the central station, “Prokop” had most of the platform and tracks under the slab, several counters and access connections from the direction of Bulevar Knez Aleksandar Karađorđević. Everything else that he lacked then, is mostly still missing today. In the meantime, only the elevators were installed that connected the above-ground and underground parts of the station, and finally, despite delays, the slab was completely built, Politika reminds. At this station, the first two tracks are still not arranged, and there are no access connections from the direction of the highway, even though the state included them in priority capital projects more than two years ago. Prokop also lacks a better connection with public city transport.

The opening of the Prokop railway station was announced for October 20.
