With eight more infected people dying, the number of dead Covid-19 patients in Latvia has exceeded 6,000 / Day


In total, 991 new cases of infection were registered in Latvia on Monday and 4,481 laboratory tests for Covid-19 were performed, of which 22.1% were positive.

The two-week cumulative incidence rate of Covid-19 in Latvia decreased from 863.8 to 846.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. On the other hand, the seven-day cumulative indicator has decreased from 417.6 to 404.8 per 100,000 inhabitants.

In the past 24 hours, news has been received about eight deaths infected with Covid-19, of which one person was aged 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 70 to 79, four – 80 to 89 and another – 90 to at the age of 99. Three of them were unvaccinated or had not completed the vaccination course, while five were vaccinated against Covid-19.

In total, 6,006 people infected with Covid-19 have died in Latvia so far.

SPKC previously explained to the LETA agency that there may be discrepancies in the mortality data – they may be delayed by a month or a half. Information on deceased patients is also collected from the Cause of Death Register, where information is gathered on absolutely all deaths, including those from Covid-19, which, for example, have not been reported before. SPKC data, on the other hand, are mainly from hospitals and nursing homes that report deaths. In addition, there is a significant number of people for whom it is recorded that Covid-19 has been a contributing factor in the occurrence of death.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, this disease has been laboratory-confirmed in 933,476 cases in Latvia.

According to the calculations of the LETA agency, 7,593 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the last seven days.
