On Thursday evening, February 3, Harju Makohoh sentenced Toomas Erm Wilson, a well-known criminal in the criminal world, who attacked the chief physician of the North Estonian Regional Hospital (PERH) for attacking Peep Talvingu.

The court sentenced Wilson, 54, to six months’ imprisonment, of which he must actually serve one month and 15 days. He shall serve the remainder of the sentence on a probationary period of one year.

Wilson, who attended the session via a video bridge, pleaded guilty and said he was very embarrassed.

The accelerated procedure may be used in the case of a second-degree criminal offense, the facts are clear and the evidence has been gathered. The prosecutor shall apply to the court for expedited proceedings within 48 hours of the person’s detention as a suspect.

Peep Talving was also present at the hearing, agreeing to the expedited procedure and the sentence imposed on Wilson.

Wilson, who was declared wanted because of the winter attack, surrendered to the police on Wednesday morning and was detained as a suspect. He testified to the police and confessed.

Already on Tuesday, police detained a 61-year-old man who was Wilson’s driver on the night of the attack. “He testified about what happened, which confirmed the investigators’ version that the attack was not accidental, ie the criminal was waiting for the victim and was prepared for the attack,” Urmet Tambre, head of the Northern Prefecture Criminal Bureau, said on Tuesday.

Wilson’s driver was released from police on Wednesday.

According to Diana Helila, the district prosecutor leading the criminal proceedings, the attack on Chief Physician Peep Talving was not related to his work in the Scientific Council, but the motive is still unclear.

On February 3, at 7 pm, Wilson threw urine at Talving, who was sitting in a car in the parking lot at the hospital on the excursion road in Mustamäe. The tire of Talvingu’s vehicle was also punctured.
