Wienerberger presented awards for innovative brick architectural solutions

Wienerberger Company for the tenth, jubilee time, she awarded outstanding brick construction projects from all over the world, with a prestigious and internationally recognized architectural award Brick Award, choosing from 50 nominated projects in five categories. The award-winning solutions represent modern and innovative concepts in which brick has been skillfully and uniquely used, and which have combined functionality, sustainability and energy efficiency within the aesthetics, form and design of projects.

They attended the Brick Award 22 ceremony renowned experts in the field of architecturerepresentatives of the Wienerberger company, as well as the architects of the Revolution Architects studio, Jugoslav Jugović and Marijana Milošević.

In 2022, a total of 50 projects were nominated in five categories: Make yourself at home (8), Sharing public space (13), Living together (12), Working together (8) and Innovative building concepts (9).

Grand Prize winner in the category “Sharing public space” is “Imperial Furnace Museum in Yingdejen”, by the Zhu Pei architectural studio in Beijing. In the “Living Together” category, the award went to the project “88 apartments + 1 retail space in Rue Danton” architects Avenier Cornejo Architectes from France, while for the category “Joint work” the award was given to the solution “2226 Emmenweid” of the Baumschlager Eberle Architekten architectural studio in Zurich.

The award in the category “Feel at home” went to the architectural studio Natura Futura from Ecuador for the conceptual design “The House that inhabits (Productive Urban Living)”while the architectural studio Neri & Hu Design and Research Office from Shanghai won in the category “Innovative construction concepts” with the project “The Brick Wall (Tsingpu Iangzhou Retreat)”.

The selection process was focused on certain specific criteria and five categories, the most important of which is to a significant part of the project must consist of clay building materials, such as clay blocks, clay cladding bricks, clay paving bricks, clay tiles or clay façade panels. Great importance was given to the fact that these projects have grown up with the new demands and legal frameworks of the culture of ecological construction, energy efficient construction, as well as the preservation of historical monuments.

For almost two decades, Wienerberger has been organizing an international award ceremony for outstanding architectural solutions using bricks. The prestigious Brick Award is an internationally recognized architectural award organized by Wienerberger and was first presented in 2004, with the aim of emphasizes the importance of natural brick material and nurtures architectural solutions who use this material in an innovative and modern way.

As in previous editions of the competition, Wienerberger has issued a special printed edition Brick Book 22which includes all 50 nominated projects for 2022.
