The murder caused much speculation as to whether the killers intended to kill Dugin himself or his daughter.

It wasn’t a mistake – said Dugin and added:

– All efforts were made to kill her… she was the target, he said in the documentary entitled “Why was Darja Dugina killed?” which will be broadcast by the Russian First Channel.

Dugina, 29, was driving her father’s Toyota SUV when it exploded, prompting Russian law enforcement and authorities to speculate that the philosopher himself may have been the target of the attack.

According to Dugin, his daughter was targeted because she advocated “the Russian idea… the idea of great power statehood, security for our people and our nation.”

Dugin himself was called “Putin’s brain” and “Putin’s Rasputin” by the Western media who claimed that he allegedly influenced the worldview of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In Russia, Dugin is generally perceived as a marginalized figure without real influence.

Earlier, Dugin called the murder of his daughter a “terrorist act” and blamed the “Nazi Ukrainian regime” for the murder. He also said he wanted a “victory” for Russia in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, not revenge.

Kyiv denies killing Dugina

Kiev has denied any official involvement in the car bomb attack.

The Russian Security Service, FSB, identified the suspect in Dugina’s death as Ukrainian citizen Natalya Vovk (43).

Vovk, under the surname Shaban, appeared on the list of members of the Ukrainian National Guard.
