LEGO is not the cheapest pleasure. Building blocks that entertain children (and adults) often cost a lot more than other toys that can occupy the time of the youngest. However, they are still unbeatable. This is due to almost 100 years of presence on the market, durability and universality of the blocks themselves.

Those who grew up in the 80s and 90s certainly remember that access to LEGO was very limited, and the sets, although very diverse, were not based on popular brands. Now it’s completely different. And although the company comes back with memories thanks to sets inspired by early projects, it currently focuses on cooperation with licenses known around the world. However, there is no denying that LEGO is expensive and has always been expensive – also in my youth. However, customers are not decreasing, as are the sets that appear in stores.

Three factors contributing to the high price of LEGO bricks

Why are toys that seem like ordinary plastic blocks priced so high? I believe that our products are well priced considering what customers get in return. I am talking about the highest quality, the highest safety standards and a great fun experience. With Lego bricks you can build again and again, so you can play with the same set endlessly, telling new stories. Therefore, it is a very durable product that our customers pass down from generation to generation. Considering all this, I believe that the price of our products is good.

Quality, safety, durability, versatility. These few factors are probably just the beginning – although it must be admitted that the most important. Undoubtedly, all sorts of licenses play a role in the final store price. Because LEGO has licenses – including the one that started the craze related to thematic sets based on pop culture. In 1999, the Danes signed a contract with Lucasfilm – and this company needs no introduction. Blocks with motifs from Star Wars are still very popular today. And although the brand has its ups and downs, Star Wars and LEGO fans do not lack and constantly create new constructions that catch the attention – and not only of the youngest viewers.

The high prices of LEGO sets are also not helped by the fact that a few months ago the company announced changes in the price list – and unfortunately to the detriment of fans of assembling bricks. Some of them have become more expensive by as much as 1/4 of the price – and with basic prices of several hundred zlotys, even a few percent can make a huge difference in the final amount. And although initially the increases concerned only the American market, over the last few weeks it has been seen that in our country you have to pay more for some sets. There are many factors – from problems with the availability of raw materials to difficulties in transport. The economic crisis is affecting everyone, which is reflected in the prices of many products – including LEGO.

There is also the issue that LEGO still has no cause for concern from the competition. Many companies try to popularize their own blocks, but it is the product with the characteristic logo that enjoys unflagging popularity. Even Chinese fakes, which are easy to find on AlịExpress, are not dangerous to him. Although they are copied almost perfectly, anyone who has ever dealt with them knows that the difference is visible and tactile.

However, there is no denying that hardcore fans will continue to buy them anyway – LEGO is also a good way to invest. Packed boxes with blocks can be sold after a few years and still earn money – especially in the case of less popular sets containing unique single blocks. A separate issue is also the fact that new bricks inspired by well-known brands are constantly coming to stores, such as the recently announced LEGO from the Indiana Jones series, extensions for LEGO Super Mario, or Rivendell from “The Lord of the Rings”, which was on the list of one of the biggest kits created by the company.
