Why do you need Apple and Samsung when you have Wiko? A new brand of smartphones has appeared in Russia

According to Izvestia, the Wiko brand began to be delivered to Russia. It is registered in France and manufactured in China.

Wiko is not exactly a French brand. This trademark appeared in 2011 in Marseille, and in 2017 it was acquired by the Chinese company Tinno Mobile Technology. Wiko smartphones are sold in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, but they are most popular in France, where they are in the top 5 and occupy about 5% of the market. Currently, only one model is sold in Russia – Wiko T3 (retailers and operators already have it), and deliveries of other devices of this brand should begin in the future.

According to experts, other local brands from countries loyal to Russia – China, India, Africa and Latin America – may follow Wiko’s example. The Russian smartphone market has recently undergone major changes. Sales of Apple and Samsung smartphones have fallen sharply (including due to the cessation of official supplies), but demand for devices from Chinese companies, primarily Xiaomi and Realme, has increased. In the second quarter of this year, the share of Chinese brands in the Russian smartphone market reached 70%, while until recently it did not exceed 50%.
