Film tips week 12 (2023): De Mol and The Night Agent

1. Deal (NPO Start)

Are you disappointed that Wie is de Mol is over again? Then we have excellent news for you, because the new season of the (original) Belgian version has started again. This time a group of unknown Flemings leaves for Arizona to earn money through assignments.

One of them is the mole that ensures that as little as possible gets into the pot. Because these are not celebrities, this does not feel like a pleasant school trip. The relationships are tense, the assignments more interesting and it’s all also very strongly filmed.

The episodes can be watched on Sunday evening via the website of Belgian channel Vier. You have to create an account for that. On Monday evening, the new episode will be on NPO Start as Wie is de Mol Belgium.

2. The Night Agent (Netflix)

From the creator of the excellent The Shield and SWAT, The Night Agent is now on Netflix. You follow Gabriel Basso, who works in the basement of the White House where there is a telephone that never rings.

Until this does happen. What follows is a series of wild events and a conspiracy all the way to the Oval Office. A bit of Bourne with a lot of political intrigue.

3. Arcadia (NPO Start)

KRO-NCRV and the Belgian VRT worked together on this exciting new science fiction series. Arcadia is set in the near future, where everyone has a citizen score read out from the chip in their hand.

This score determines how well you can live. In the series you follow a family with a good score, but then it turns out that the father has cheated with his daughters’ scores.

4. Swarm (Prime Video)

After the amazing Atlanta series, Donald Glover is back with a new series in the same universe: Swarm. In this you follow the young Dre who is such a big fan of a singer that she goes crazy. Including a role for Billie Eilish.

5. Agent Elvis (Netflix)

In this new adult cartoon, none other than Matthew McConaughey plays the role of Elvis Presley. This time Elvis is not only a world famous singer, but also a secret agent who protects the United States from evil with his team. It is not surprising that the series is reminiscent of Archer, because the writer has previously written several episodes of that show.
