WHO approves AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19
The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved the emergency use of two versions of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to combat covid-19.
In a press conference, the director-general of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says that this now allows vaccines to be launched worldwide through Covax, an initiative by WHO and the Alliance for Access to Vaccines (GAVI) that he intends supply vaccines to low- and middle-income countries. The goal is to distribute around 337 million vaccines to 145 countries.
Ghebreyesus also advanced that one of the vaccines is produced in South Korea and another in India.
