Which appliances and activities eat the most electricity?

At a time when a large part of people, not only in the Czech Republic, are nervously watching their electricity bills, among other things, and slowly recalculating every crown in their pocket, it is useful to look for which appliances or activities they actually need one in the household electricity the most. If, for example, you already have smart sockets or other measuring devices at home, answering such a question is a piece of cake for you. But most people don’t use such a solution yet, so it fits at least to remind generallyin which values the electricity is approximately consumed by individual devices or operations.

If you’re going to argue that it’s enough to read the wattage label, you’re partially right. But first of all, the device may not always reach this value and… and this is even more important… probably few people want to look at these labels and probably few of us remember the values from them. For that reason, it is good to have at least basic overviewwho are the biggest gluttons and therefore i potential savers. Electric heating is omitted from the overview, which would otherwise understandably be in first place.

We can include the TV, computer, Hi-Fi towers, consoles and, last but not least, charging mobile phones and tablets. This is about 6% of consumption in the entire household. With consumer electronics, it is good to think about the so-called stand-by mode.

4. Lighting

Quite possibly the first area in which many people try to save immediately by buying more energy efficient devices. Buying other bulbs or lamps is not a big expense and the chance to reduce consumption is not entirely small. This is about 5% of the entire household. They play a positive role here especially LED lights.

5. Cooking

Hob, electric oven, microwave or kettle. Together, these represent about 4% of the total electricity consumption in a typical household. You probably guessed that it will be more, right? Of course, it depends on the frequency of their use.
