When the works start at the Dinamo stadium: the long-awaited announcement!

Lucian Bode, the Minister of the Interior, came out with good news for Dinamo’s fans, regarding the stadium that would be built on the “Stefan cel Mare Road”.

As is already known, the current Dinamo stadium belongs to the Sports Club of the same name, a club under the administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And the future arena will be in the same situation. Practically, MAI is the owner of the football stadium in “Parcul Sportiv Dinamo”.

From this position, Lucian Bode announced what facilities the future arena will benefit from, but also that the execution time is estimated at two years. Therefore, since the demolition of the current stadium is expected to begin in September of this year, according to the minister, the new arena would be completed sometime at the end of 2025.

Bode also conveyed that there is a good chance that this construction of the new Dinamo stadium will be synonymous with the return of Mircea Lucescu to “Ștefan cel Mare”, based on a promise previously made by the great Romanian coach.

“I want the achievement of this goal to follow its course. I’m not talking about why it wasn’t done, I’m not talking about why so much time was allocated. Why did Dinamo suffer and stay behind, so to speak, when the other stadiums in Bucharest were built. I am not blaming anyone, I am saying what happened from 2021 until now, at what stage we are and what are the prospects for this objective so necessary for the great Dinamo family and not only… to be realized.

In 2021 we found this stadium in civil and criminal disputes and after a year, all these disputes have been cleared. They also qualified with the location on which the new arena was to be built, on the velodrome. On the day of the club, last year, the Ministry of the Interior handed over to the Ministry of Development, to the National Investment Company, all the documentation for the creation of a new multifunctional arena here, on the old site.

A tender was held to contract a firm to carry out the feasibility study. The selection process was completed, the contract was signed and in April, exactly one month from now, the project company has the obligation to submit the feasibility study. With the completion of this approach, follows the government’s decision to move from the public domain of the state to the private domain of the state. They are procedures that can be carried out in a few weeks.

After we have these two mandatory government decisions to be able to move forward, practically, Clubul Sportiv Dinamo will auction the demolition of the stadium. We have budgeted this expenditure for the year 2023. We estimate that the actual demolition activity will begin in September of this year. In parallel, the National Investment Company will start the procedures for tendering the design and execution. If we don’t get bogged down in further appeal proceedings by the end of the year, we can have the construction, design and execution contract signed.

We have a two-year deadline. Two years in which we want to have a multi-purpose arena with 25,000 seats, an arena that will not only be used for football. There will be over 1200 parking spaces, we will also have a hotel, a heliport that will serve the Floreasca hospital.
