WhatsApp will get a convenient feature, but only on the iPhone and only in iOS 15

WhatsApp is starting to implement a new feature – displaying the avatar of the interlocutor in iOS notifications. This is reported by the foreign profile resource WABetaInfo.

WABetaInfo employees are researching fresh beta versions of the WhatsApp messenger and immediately report all findings on the network. This time, they discovered a new feature that will only be available to iPhone users and is closely related to the functionality of iOS 15.

Most likely, many have noticed that in the “tag” notifications from instant messengers began to look different. If earlier the banner contained the messenger icon, which received a new message, then starting from iOS 15 it has been replaced with the sender’s avatar. The messenger icon is still there, but now it has become smaller and is located at the bottom of the banner. If the application itself does not support this feature, a “stub” is displayed in place of the avatar – the “contact” icon.

The developers of WhatsApp began to implement the display of avatars inside push notifications on iOS 15. Now, users of the latest Apple OS will find it easier to understand who sent them a message. Such a change is quite logical, since often it is much more important for us to know the sender than the messenger that he used.

The new feature will appear in beta testers who have updated WhatsApp to version or newer. Soon the update will be available to regular iPhone users on iOS 15. Those who have not yet updated to this iOS will not see any changes in the notifications.

Earlier we wrote that WhatsApp for the first time gave way to a competing messenger in half of the regions of Russia.
