The project for the construction of the Northern Bypass of Kragujevac started last year at the Public Company Roads of Serbia. The route is about 22 km long, and the project of the future bypass includes parts of the cadastral municipalities of Cvetojevac, Jovanovac, Kragujevac 4 and Novi Milanovac, with a total area of 65ha 25ar 15m2.

The calculated speed for dimensioning the route elements is 100 km / h. The cross-section of the road contains four traffic lanes 3.5 m wide, edge lanes 0.5 m wide, sidewalks 1.5 m wide and inflow / outflow lanes 3.5 m wide.
On the total route of the Northern Bypass, five leveled intersections with the routes of the existing state and municipal roads have been defined, namely Jovanovac, Petrovac, Topola, Gornji Milanovac and Dragobrać.

The consortium of companies MHM-projekt from Novi Sad, DB inženjering from Belgrade and Tangram projekt from Novi Sad, within the development of the urban project, was engaged in researching and defining the route of the highway and prepared project technical documentation which is an integral part of the urban project.
On the subject section of the Northern Bypass of Kragujevac from km0 + 000 to km5 + 000 there are no planned or projected supporting facilities, as well as a base for road maintenance. Along the route, ie both lanes of the expressway, there are niches for forced stopping of vehicles in case of sudden need, as well as interruptions of the dividing zone, in case of closing one of the roads (traffic accident, maintenance works on one of the roads). direction) for channeled redirection of traffic flows to the second road.
This section begins with the leveling intersection Jovanovac, which connects the state road Ib reda 24 (Batočina – Kragujevac) and the newly designed northern bypass.
In the continuation of the route, from km0 + 800 to km3 + 800, the route is developed homogeneously, so that it follows the configuration of the terrain and the existing watercourse Aleksina jaruga.
Aside from, the route of the Northern Bypass intersects several Atar roads, and at the km3 + 125 station, an overpass and deviation of the local road was designed, which enabled communication and access to all plots on both sides of the Northern Bypass. The overpass in question is designed in the width of the road of 6.5 m, which translates Atar roads across the expressway, which is unhindered movement of agricultural machinery is provided from one side of the newly designed expressway to the other.
Since several Atar roads have been interrupted and access to a larger number of plots has been blocked, the projected solution envisages 5.5m wide Atar roads with 1m bilateral banks on both sides of the Northern Bypass, at the lengths necessary to allow access to all intersections. communications and parcels.
Before the end of the section of the Northern Bypass, which is the subject of this urban project, another leveled intersection at km4 + 300 has been designed. It is the Petrovac loop, which was defined at that place primarily due to the needs of the future Industrial Zone which will stretch along the first four kilometers of the Northern Bypass, on its northern side. In order to solve the connections of the existing local roads and the access to the future industrial zone, a roundabout was designed within the Petrovac loop, which will provide a connection between these roads and the expressway.
At the km4 + 620 station, the route of the Northern Bypass intersects the existing municipal road no. 301, as a result of which the deviation of that municipal road was projected. This deviation was designed so that a level crossing with the route of the fast road in the zone of the Petrovac loop was made, but no direct connection with the fast road is realized. The connection of the deviation of the municipal road with the fast road was realized indirectly, through the part of the reconstructed local road and the newly designed roundabout within the subject loop.
Within this urban project the design of the Northern Bypass route ends at the km5 + 000 station, and the rest of the route will be the subject of special project documentation.
The goal of the construction of the future bypass, as it is stated, is to move the transit traffic from the city center of Kragujevac., improvement of environmental conditions (reduction of air pollution, noise …), as well as faster connection of transit flows on the state road IA-A1 (E-75) in Batočina via Kragujevac to the state road IA-A5 (E-761) in Mrčajevci.
