What will be the future role of cryptography in secure digital business

Managers and experts in information security and risk management from Central European private and state-owned companies listened in Vienna to Slovenian best practices in the use of cryptography in today’s and future digital business.

Trust in modern digital services, from digital identities and protection of digital content to all payment transactions and exchange of business documents, is based on the use of cryptographic technologies. There is a company in the conference center of the Hilton Vienna Plaza CREAplus prepared an expert meeting “Protecting Digital Identities” with those responsible for information security and risk management in the financial and public sector, trust service providers and providers of various online services based on secure digital identities. The meeting was attended by those responsible for the security of commercial digital services and e-government from 12 Central European and Balkan countries.

“We are talking about the very foundations of digital business security, without which there is no trust in any serious digital service. We have seen, for example, how cryptography is used in the production of modern personal documents, what are the challenges in protecting people’s digital identities. Already 75 billion devices, sensors and control systems are connected to the Internet, from critical infrastructure and automated manufacturing to smart homes. The identities of these funds must also be protected in the same way, and cryptography plays a key role in all of this,” explained Mitja Trampuž, director of the CREAplus company.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the companies Utimaco, Ascertia and InfoCert, which shape the European and global top of root security technologies. Their technical lectures covered approaches for protecting people and sensitive data in digital environments, solutions for remote trusted signing, and managing device identities in protecting critical infrastructure.

“Today’s meeting confirms that we are actively participating in the development of trustworthy digital business in Central Europe and the Balkans. In fact, with our activities in post-quantum cryptography mastered by Dr. Nastja Cepak and her excellent team are already a big step forward,” said Trampuž.

At the same time, the participants also got to know the business solutions that CREAplus offers in the Central and Southeastern European region using partner technologies and with its own knowledge. Among the practical examples of use, Cetis’ smart document personalization solution, which the company markets worldwide as part of comprehensive solutions for the production of personal documents, and the achievements of the CREAplus cryptographic team in the development of cryptographic solutions for the coming era of quantum computers stood out.
