What exactly does industry 4.0 mean? – technokrata.hu

In recent years, the term Industry 4.0 has become more common, referring to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The first began with the invention of the steam engine, the second dates back to the beginnings of the industrial use of electricity, and the third began with the arrival of computers and computer networks. In connection with the fourth industrial revolution, we spoke with Péter Gém, Director of Sales and Business Development at 4iG Plc.

„Nit’s hard to give an answer to what exactly Industry 4.0 means, there is no specific definition of the term, how many countries, how many companies, everyone meant a little different

The expert explained.

“It can also be considered Industry 4.0 for a company to be involved in fine manufacturing design because it can design and optimize production capacities to be usable and feasible based on existing data. It also includes the construction of management information systems (EBDA – Business Decision Application) and decision-making based on data extracted from these systems. So Industry 4.0 is a collective name, and the world today is moving in the direction of making decisions based on data or making production plans accordingly. Today, it is appearing in more and more sectors – from agriculture to healthcare. ”

Péter Gém pointed out that Industry 4.0 is an important focus area for 4iG, one of the key players in the Hungarian IT industry. make business decisions.

“We call Industry 3 expert systems”

Explained Péter Gém.

“Industry 4 solutions can only be talked about if these so-called expert ballast systems are in place. This is where the 4iOP product line developed by 4iG comes into play. ”

Péter Gém, Director of Professional Sales and Business Development at 4iG Plc

4iOP (for industrial Operations) is a so-called industrial digitization platform that covers industrial IT solutions developed by 4iG, such as counting, measurement, analytics, quality control, sensor replacement and more. However, it is much more than that: a cost-effective platform that 4iG customers can even use in a dynamic pricing design, provided all conditions are met on the customer side. This can save significant costs, in return for which the customer can enjoy the benefits of the most advanced industrial digital solutions. This can be a huge advantage, especially for small and medium-sized businesses, as they can reap the benefits of Computer Vision or even technologies that require machine learning or the installation of expensive sensors without having to invest tens or hundreds of millions.

“With 4iOP, we integrate our own solutions and the software and hardware developed by our suppliers to fully serve customers’ data hunger.”

Péter Gém pointed out. Although, as mentioned earlier, the definition can be interpreted flexibly, Industry 4.0 solutions have common sections. Such is the case with scalability, which allows customers to operate more predictably and have more predictable business processes.

“Scalable technologies have been shaped by a number of factors, including the strong impact of Covid.”

– emphasized Péter Gém.

“One of the most important of these is that almost everyone has the opportunity to work digitally. I am thinking, for example, of the fact that work from home can be produced. So far, this has not been the case, with engineers going into the factories, connecting to local networks, and working there. However, full interoperability has now been achieved. ”

“Another important feature of scalability is that we offer data center (on-prem or deployed) solutions that can expand dynamically with the growth of the company and its data requirements, whether it’s computing capacity or data storage.”

4iG has solutions like HPE GreenLake that offer customers unparalleled flexibility and redundancy, taking advantage of easier operation and better financing.

Whoever is left out now will pass by the world

Industrial digitalisation, i.e. the much-mentioned Industry 4.0, is an inevitable topic, as there is a strong trend for more and more people to adopt such solutions as technology advances. 4iG sees a future in upgraded versions of the expert systems already mentioned, giving companies an important competitive advantage who will not invest in these technologies, and the world will soon pass by.

“There are a lot of misunderstandings about Industry 4.0 because many companies interpret it in different ways, but in our terminology it refers to the use of expert systems such as location, predictive analytics, maintenance management, or various data collection technologies.”

The expert pointed out.

“When these expert systems are combined, the data collected in this way can be used digitally to support decision-making or, for example, to optimize production.”

Security above all else

Another key element of Industry 4.0 is cybersecurity, as more and more areas are using a variety of digital devices that often transmit sensitive, valuable corporate data. A memorable example is the recent Colonial Pipeline incident, which showed how the momentary inattention of a single employee can cause a serious energy crisis.

“This is an extremely important area: it is worth knowing for SMEs, but even larger companies, that billions of investments are no longer needed today when it comes to security, as our portfolio also includes» security-as-a-service «Service package”

– emphasized Péter Gém.

“With monthly fee availability, it allows companies to avoid having to pay for poisonous security professionals, keep their knowledge fresh, and send them for continuous training. Perhaps it is no exaggeration to say that the cream of the information security profession is now available in Hungary. We live in an age where technology and hardware are a given, whether we are talking about security or industrial digitization. In addition, companies only need one thing: to be determined to make changes and improvements. The rest will be helped by 4iG experts. We are a classic IT system integrator, but with in-house expertise in automation, robotics, manufacturing technology and security, from hardware to software, and the ability to support our customers with our expertise throughout the business lifecycle, we can take a heavy toll on our on their shoulders. “

Efficiency: the key to success

Nowadays, no company can afford not to operate at maximum efficiency, and Industry 4.0’s digital solutions are a huge help. One of the most exciting areas here is the digital twin pair, where 4iG is also at the forefront.

“For our client, DENSO, we have created a survey based on 3D technology, ie a digital twin pair, which significantly contributes to reducing the time of design processes.”

Explained Péter Gém.

“We have digitized the DENSO production line, which has many advantages: for example, it is possible to simulate whether a given production process can be run properly, but it is also possible to use the digital twin to monitor whether certain machines fit in the gate. in the production hall, whether the necessary electrical and other outlets are available. These are needed because when a hall is designed, it is designed around the equipment previously ordered. However, if a feature changes and the customer does not know it in time, problems can occur. I recently saw an automotive device on display at which one of the dosing stations “hangs” half a meter into the designated traffic route because it couldn’t fit otherwise. This could have been avoided, for example, by using a digital twin, which could save up to 30 to 40 percent of design costs. All you have to do is look around the production line with a mobile phone or an AR goggle, you can immediately see which machine is running, whether it is keeping the production plan, how much scrap, how much power it is consuming and so on. Managers like to be able to control it so much, they can track production so accurately, even from another continent. ”

In addition, building an efficient data center is essential to building an Industry 4.0 framework, which is a huge expense if a company has to manage from its own pocket. On the other hand, 4iG also offers this service in a monthly fee construction, which makes the operation of the company much more predictable, and it is not necessary to immediately sacrifice many millions of forints to build the infrastructure.

As you can see, Industry 4.0 solutions can benefit both smaller, lower-budget SMEs and large, optimized companies. And 4iG offers the right solution for every industry player.
