What does the interior of the new home of Radio-Television of Vojvodina look like?

We peeked into the interior of the new RTV building in Novi Sad, which has five TV studios, a central desk, and universal offices, all connected by an atrium that extends the entire height of the building.

When we toured the construction site of the new RTV building more than two years ago, our first impression was that it was a truly fascinating space with a huge 600-square-meter TV studio dominated by large-scale steel gratings.

Seven months after our first tour, symbolically on the 70th birthday of television, that is, on November 25, 2019, the first signal from this object is released although the building was not fully equipped at the time. The new home of RTV was moved in in January 2021, and now we have the opportunity to see what the interior looks like when everything is finished.

The first-prize winning work in the competition from 2014 for the conceptual design of the building is being signed Dragoljub Kujovic i Rista Dobrijevic, while the interior is the work Nikola Martinović from the N-MARTIN project studio.

Great view of Novi Sad from the lounge

The atrium of the full height of the building is dominated by a large INSA wall clock with a diameter of six meters.

The RTV building is functionally organized in three connected wholes: the first unit includes a production-technological block, the second a business-administrative block, and the third represents a closed atrium / warm connection between the first two blocks. It is this part that impresses at the very entrance because it is the size 12 × 46 meters and extends the entire height of the building.

In addition to the reception desk, the atrium dominates large INSA wall clock diameter of six meters as well pendants in an irregular layout that further illuminates the space.

In the closed atrium, direct communication connections were established (pedestrian connections / bridges) i atrium balcony in places where it is necessary to achieve the fastest possible connection between the technological part on the one hand and the editorial, program and administrative spaces on the other hand. In the basement of this unit there is a large radio and drama studio.

Acoustic and antistatic properties

The interior is designed so that the emphasis is placed on functionality but also on the technical needs of the television. Thus, for example, the concrete walls in the production part are lined with stone wool on a steel substructure with rubber spacers on which gypsum boards and sound absorbers are then hung. Thus, they are much needed acoustic properties which are necessary for quality broadcasting.

Building on Mišeluk

The 17,300-square-foot RTV building is located at Micheluk – a location according to which the city of Novi Sad is just beginning to open. The Novi Sad (kovid) hospital is currently being built near this building, as well as numerous residential buildings that you can see on the construction site map. Therefore, we can expect that the panorama of Mišeluk will soon change completely, and that one visual benchmark will be the new home of Radio-Television of Vojvodina.
