Last November, it was confirmed that Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will come in new versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S this year, as a free upgrade. It is only logical and fair that if the creators have prepared a new version for the PC, then they will give the owners the original copy for free.

Metro Exodus is almost two years old and then came as one of the first AAA games with the support of ray tracing, specifically global enlightenment. The new version was improved especially in this respect and started with the engine (4A Engine). Instead of Ray Traced Global Illumination and Emissive Lighting, there is the Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline, and the game itself will be distributed and installed as a whole new title, so it’s not just a new patch for the old version.
Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition will now directly require a GPU with hardware support for ray tracing. Specifically, there will be support for DLSS 2.0 technology, which gives much better results than the first version, redesigned scene lighting will use ray tracing for each light source, and PC versions, unlike console versions, will also use ray tracing for reflections (DLSS 2.0 is of course only for PC, with NVIDIA graphics).
Other improvements include the already adjustable FOV, or angle of view, as well as 4K textures and, of course, catchy bugs. If you have Metro Exodus purchased from the library at the Epic Games Store, Steam or GoGo, the Enhanced Edition will be free for you, but we haven’t yet learned the exact launch date with the fact that it will be spring.
In addition, a version of the game for Mac and Linux systems is also being prepared. It will be available later this year on the Mac App Store, Steam and Epic Games Store, and Linux versions will appear on Steam.
