The Estonian Athletics Championships were held at the Kadriorg Stadium in Tallinn, which received a brand new Mondo track, over the weekend.

This year, 38 clubs with more than 300 athletes participated in the championship. Among them are also athletes who have started sports in Lääne County, who currently no longer protect the colors of the first home club.

Kevin Sakson, who competed in Audentes SK colors, won two medals. An athlete who started at the Haapsalu Athletics Club studying in the USA, he earned silver in discus and shot put. “The technique is not right yet and that’s why the results were not to be praised,” the young man summed up his two races.

Saxon’s result in shot put was 16.09 and in discus throw 53.23. In both areas, the country’s leading numbers picked up the victory – in shot put Jander Heil and in throwing Martin Kupper.

Gertu Küttmann, who has started sports in Lihula and now represents the Niidupark Athletics Club, was also very close to the medal. He led in three areas and competed in ascending order. In the first area, the discus came in eighth with 39.44. In hammer throw, the best attempt brought sixth place to 50.89. In the shot put, Küttmann was stuck in the medal win with the result of the third push of 13.71 until the last push, but in the last round Monica Vainola pushed 13.88 and our athlete was pushed to the fourth.

Two Haapsalu KJK puppies participated in the women’s 100 meter hurdles and high jump.

Anna-Maria Vjazemski got off to a very good start in the race, but ran into the third hurdle and was forced to stop. Annabel Moor exceeded 1.60 in the women’s high jump and was 12th.
