A German ID 4 is visiting Sweden and we naturally had to investigate how it copes with the Swedish winter.
Hello there, Alrik! You have been allowed to drive a Volkswagen ID 4 today. What can you tell us about it?
Yes exactly! We had to borrow an ID 4 for five hours today and of course we had to test it properly. With a Volvo V90 as a counterweight, we put ID 4 to the test at GTR Motorpark outside Eskilstuna.
What kind of tests?
Everything is possible. Brake test, red light test and evasive maneuver test with full brake. In the latter, the ID 4 was completely superior to the Volvo V90. We also made an impromptu little loop inside the GTR area and ID 4 won over the V90 there as well.
How is ID 4 to drive then?
Very easy to drive, comfortable and agile. It also feels modern, and the material choices are more lavish than in ID 3. But above all, it is a sensible car. It is not very fast like many other electric cars, but it feels mature and “ordinary”.
Anything else that is extra good with ID 4?
There is a lot that is good, but what is gratifying for many is that the first cars, First Edition and First Edition Max, have a towbar as standard with a tow weight of 1,000 kg. In addition, the cars have rails and it is therefore possible to mount a roof box.
Is there anything less good?
Yes, there is a little loud road noise in it that you can definitely notice, and some stuff. But I do not intend to reveal that here, but you will read about the next issue of ams and here on the site soon. Then of course there will be a Reason & Feeling section as well!
Volkswagen ID 4 will be my next car!
