We got democracy back because Sheikh Hasina came: Matia Chowdhury

Desk Report:: Begum Matia Chowdhury, a member of the Awami League presidium, said that the day Bangabandhu came back, nature also wept bitterly. At the airport on that day, the slogan was on the faces of millions of people in the stormy and dark night, Sheikh Hasina we are with you.

He also said that Sheikh Hasina stepped on the soil of this country and said – I have nothing to lose, I have returned to the people of Bengal after losing my parents, brothers and relatives. You are my own, you are my soul mate. We will save democracy again.

He said these things at a discussion meeting organized at Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Hall today (Tuesday) afternoon. This discussion meeting was organized on the occasion of Sheikh Hasina’s 43rd Homecoming Day tomorrow, Wednesday.

Matia Chowdhury said that the storm and rain could not stop Sheikh Hasina that day. He has rightly rescued democracy. Because he came back to the country, we got democracy back, we got people’s rights back. Today, standing in this medical university convention hall, I can say that treatment is not a privilege, treatment is my right. This is how Bangladesh is progressing on the path of development.

Professor Dr. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed said that democracy was restored because the Honorable Prime Minister returned to the country on May 17, 1981. Bangabandhu’s murder was tried because he came back, war criminals were tried because he came back. None of these would have happened if Bangabandhu’s daughter Hon’ble Prime Minister had not returned home.

He also said that medical university and super specialized hospital were established in this country because of his arrival. They have provided high-quality treatment so that no patient of this country should go out. There are 113 medical colleges in the country, now the number of doctors in the country is about 1 lakh 20 thousand. It is under the leadership of People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina that we have been able to deal with the corona epidemic successfully.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky said, Pakistan’s civil society has shown four reasons why Bangladesh has moved forward. The first reason is that Bangladesh is a non-communal country, the poison of communalism is spread here but the people of this country do not accept it. Second is the empowerment of women. The third is that no one can come to state power in this country undemocratically. Fourth is the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina who is not only the inspiration of the people of the country but also the inspiration of the leaders of the whole world. Due to which Bangladesh is moving forward at a fast pace. He requested the leaders and workers of Jubo League to be more active in political movement as well as in cultural movement.

Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil said that on August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib and other members of his family were killed by the Ziaur Rahman-Mostak Gang through a domestic-foreign conspiracy. There was no democracy in this country after 1975. Democracy was imprisoned in the army camp of the murderous Zia. People had no right to speak, night after night curfew was imposed and military officers who believed in the spirit of the liberation war were hanged on false pretexts by killer Zia. The murderous Zia questioned Bangladesh’s democracy through yes-no votes. When Bangladesh was plunged in deep darkness, pathless, aimless, when the country’s youth society was on the verge of destruction, by exploiting the youth society in the name of murderous Zia regime, they started destroying the youth society with drugs, weapons and money, then Bangabandhu came to Bangladesh as a beacon of light in the darkness of the nation at that critical moment. The Prime Minister is the statesman Sheikh Hasina. We got democracy back because Bangabandhu’s daughter statesman Sheikh Hasina returned to the country that day.

He also said that again the BNP-Jamaat is conspiring against the country, the people of the country, Bangabandhu’s daughter, again burning cars with petrol bombs, conspiring to kill people. We Jubo League along with the common people of the country will strictly resist all the conspiracies of BNP-Jamaat on the streets. I will keep the path of Sheikh Hasina smooth.
