Read on after the ad.
Expected smartphones in early 2022
In the first months of the year, manufacturers traditionally present many smartphones, both cheaper and expensive models. In the weeks to months after, the devices actually appear at (web) stores. Android Planet looks ahead to the expected smartphones that will see the light of day in early 2022.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
We kick off with a delayed device: the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. According to the rumors, it was scheduled for a release in August, and that is why you can also find it in our overview of expected smartphones in the autumn of 2021.
New rumors claim that Samsung will announce and release the Galaxy S21 in early January. The device will be a cheaper variant of the Galaxy S21 and will appear just before the introduction of the Galaxy S22 series.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Series
Samsung is rumored to present the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra in mid-February. The release will take place shortly after, possibly on February 18. The S22 models will succeed the S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra.
There are many rumors about the S22 series. Too many to list them all here. It is interesting to know that the S22 can probably charge faster wirelessly than the S21 series and that the S22 seems to be just as expensive as its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy A53
The Galaxy A52 and A52s are among the most popular Android smartphones of the year, so logically there will be a Galaxy A53. It would be announced in March and according to leaked Galaxy A53 renders, it looks almost the same as the A52. An interesting change is the alleged lack of a headphone jack.
The A53 will likely get better cameras and a faster processor than its predecessor. Charging would also be faster, so that the battery is full sooner.
A price of the A53 is not yet known, but will probably be in line with that of the A52(s).
Samsung Galaxy A73
At the same time as the Galaxy A53, we also expect the Galaxy A73, which will follow the Galaxy A72. This device will be bigger than the A53 but would otherwise have similar specifications.
Think of a waterproof and dustproof housing, a midrange processor with 5G support and a large battery that charges at an average speed (33 Watts). According to the rumors, Samsung is going to take steps in the camera area to allow the A73 to shoot better photos in the dark.
Like the Galaxy A53, the A73 would not have a headphone jack and would run on Android 12 out of the box. It is not yet clear how expensive the smartphone will be.
OnePlus 10 Pro
The OnePlus 10 Pro will succeed the OnePlus 9 Pro and will be an interesting device. Not because he – expected – offers revolutionary other specifications, but because the device has been developed more closely in collaboration with Oppo. OnePlus and Oppo are sister brands, but announced in the summer that OnePlus will become a brand within Oppo.
It will be interesting to see how far that company change affects the OnePlus 10 Pro. Especially in the software area, because the OnePlus 10 Pro will be the first smartphone with a new software shell that combines elements of OnePlus and Oppo.
According to the rumors, the OnePlus 10 Pro can quickly charge with no less than 125 Watts, so that the battery can be fully charged in less than twenty minutes. That is considerably faster than existing smartphones, which charge with a maximum of 65 Watts.
There may also be a cheaper OnePlus 10, just like a OnePlus 9 was released this year. Remarkably enough, no serious rumors about a OnePlus 10 have yet appeared. The question is therefore what OnePlus is planning.
Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 12 Ultra at the beginning of 2022, a flagship that will focus heavily on its camera qualities. Anonymous sources claim that the smartphone has a large camera island on the back and that Xiaomi is collaborating with the well-known photography brand Leica for the camera lenses.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra runs on a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the chip that is also the beating heart of the cheaper Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro. The Xiaomi 12 series are some of the expected smartphones that should see the light of day in early 2022. They will probably also come to the Netherlands.
Realme GT2 Pro
Realme – part of Oppo – will also come with at least one new smartphone at the beginning of 2022. That will be the GT2 Pro, a premium device that can compete with the better-known brands in terms of specifications.
The GT2 Pro will have a luxurious design, according to images shared by goodies. The smartphone also runs on the brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, has a selfie camera under the screen and runs Android 12 out of the box with Realme’s new UI 3.0 software shell.
