“We aspire to lead a change in Valls, but we do not rule out alliances with anyone”

VallsRosa Maria Ibarra (1969, Alió) is spokesperson for the PSC in Valls and a member of Parliament. In 2023 he will run for mayor for the third time.

Say one thing the current mayoress has done right and one thing wrong.

— One good thing: it turned out well to organize the decennial parties. A bad one: he broke the urban consensus when he unilaterally decided to be included in the urban master plan for economic activities in the Plana de l’Alt Camp, which involved the expansion of the estate in the Baiona area, where there are farmhouses, first homes […]. He did not agree with the opposition or the government partners.

But he ended up withdrawing the proposal.

— When he saw the citizens’ revolution he stopped it. I guess the municipal elections have something to do with it.

How is the issue of security in the historic center resolved?

— The solution is through urban and social action and, above all, to be firm in security. More police presence is needed.

Why do you think the opening of the casteller museum is stuck?

— There has been a brutal budget deviation, it has cost around 11 million euros, most of which are resources of the City Council, which has a budget of around 30 million. The tender was taken out of management and was deserted. The only certainty is that we will end up paying the Vallencs. We should see who can provide money beyond the City Council, which cannot assume around 500,000 euros a year for the museum.

With whom will they agree to govern?

— We will join with whoever wants a change. The situation is complex, it has been a bad mandate.

Everyone, then, but agree with the current mayoress?

— We aspire to lead a change project, but we don’t rule anything out with anyone.
