“We are starting the SME Energy Efficiency Support Program”

Minister Varank said, “We are launching the SME Energy Efficiency Support Program through KOSGEB. With this program, we will cover the energy audit costs of the enterprises to be made by authorized persons. If our SMEs make the suggested changes as a result of the study, we will also cover some of their expenses here.”

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank and Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Bilgin attended the 49th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Turkish Metal Industrialists’ Union (MESS). Speaking at the meeting, Minister Varank noted that they started the SME Energy Efficiency Support Program through KOSGEB. Varank stated that with the program initiated, businesses will meet the costs of energy audits that they will have authorized people do.

Minister Varank said, “We are living through a period when the global economy is going through tough tests when we say pandemic and now war conditions. Disruptions in the supply chain, unprecedented increases in energy and commodity prices affect the global economy negatively. In this process, while the world economies are falling apart, Turkey is confident on its way under the leadership of our President. We took the first place among the G-20 and EU countries with our 11 percent growth performance in 2021. Thank God, this trend continues in 2022. Our exports, which exceeded 225 billion dollars last year, reached 60 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year. “Despite all the restrictions caused by international markets, our industrial production increased by 13 percent on an annual basis in February. Again in February, while our employment exceeded 30 million, unemployment fell to 10.7 percent. I hope these positive developments will continue to increase in the coming period,” he said. .

Underlining that they have reached the highest level of all time by issuing nearly 9,500 incentive certificates in the manufacturing industry sectors in 2021, Minister Varank said, “The projected investment amount in these documents has approached 200 billion liras. Our production potential will increase exponentially when the investments are completed and put into use gradually.”

Referring to the Turkey’s Automobile project, which was launched in line with the vision of the National Technology Move, Minister Varank said, “Innate and 100% electric TOGG will be the pioneer of the green transformation in our economy when it comes to traffic. Everything is progressing as planned in the project. I hope we are getting the first vehicles off the mass production line at the end of this year. Of course. With the rapid transformation in the mobility sector, the need for electric vehicle charging infrastructures is also increasing. We have also intensified our work on this subject. We have prepared a support program to ensure that high-speed charging stations become widespread in our country. We have recently made a call, with more than 1,500 high-speed charging stations in all of our 81 provinces. We will provide GRANT support of 300 million TL in total for the establishment of a fast charging station. Thus, we will equip the whole of Turkey with charging stations within a year. By this means, all interested investors, especially our business people in this hall, are encouraged to follow and apply for this support. I invite you to. At the green transformation point, new technologies such as electric vehicles and charging infrastructures will of course have a very important impact. But our SMEs also need to keep up with this issue, especially our producer SMEs need to reduce their carbon emissions and increase their energy efficiency.

Stating that they started the SME Energy Efficiency Support Program through KOSGEB, Minister Varank said, “With this program, we will cover the energy audit costs that businesses will have authorized persons to make. We will provide support up to 100 thousand liras for the exchange of our products with the company, and up to 400 thousand liras for productivity-enhancing expenses. We are starting the applications as of today. I think this program will be very useful for our SMEs operating in the metal sector. Therefore, I invite all our businesses to take advantage of this support by examining the conditions. I do,” he said.

Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, said, “The pandemic has affected us as well as the whole world. However, Turkey has taken its place among the countries least affected by the pandemic with its historical heritage and culture of solidarity. The industrial sector continues to grow in the Turkish economy. This industry is also an exporting industry. We will give the White Flag to all businesses that fulfill their responsibilities, do proper business and have an organized workplace.

After the speeches, Minister Varank and Minister Bilgin were presented with gifts by MESS Chairman Özgür Burak Akkol.
