Most importantly, the Sava Center will keep its purpose.

“Every world metropolis has its own congress and cultural center, so Belgrade needs one as well.” The role of the congress center is to hold business meetings, congresses, exhibitions, cultural events and performances and to bring a large number of tourists. ” – Mirosavljević points out for our portal.

The Sava Center is the only facility in our country. This facility was built with the intention of being the center of events, and the new contents will enable it, says Mirosavljević for our portal and adds that he will clearly separated congress-cultural and business-commercial zone, with hotel business under one roof, create synergies in attracting clients.

Boutiques, conference rooms and rental space

The reconstructed Sava Center will have the most modern conference halls with modern audio and visual technology, a hybrid studio, two exclusive restaurants and catering. The current internal organization of the space does not meet the modern requirements of the congress industry, so the existing space will be adapted to the new criteria. More meeting rooms and networking and exhibition spaces are planned.

“In the business-commercial space, a first-class space for rent is envisaged; the lower floors are intended boutiques, and the upper floors will offer office space of different capacities with or without access to its own terrace. ” – says Mirosavljević.

The renovation of the facade will be carried out according to the original project of Stojan Maksimović and with the consent of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments.

The Sava Center is a building that has been declared a cultural monument and is one of the largest and most complex buildings erected in Belgrade. The degree of protection means that the architectural value of the building, its art and appearance must remain the same.

“Rehabilitation of the building envelope, ie the facade, will be carried out according to the original design of the main building architect Stojan Maksimović and with the consent of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments, which will be involved in all phases of the project. Therefore, we will replace the facade while preserving recognizable sloping glass surfaces and improving them with current safety and energy efficiency standards. ” – says the director of the Sava Center.

Connection of the Sava Center with the future Intercontinental

Since 1979, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, also owned by Delta, has been physically connected to the Sava Center by a pasaler, and there is a natural need for this the two facilities operate together.

“Our company’s wish is to return the Intercontinental to Belgrade, and we are especially happy to have a location for that hotel, which is within walking distance of the Sava Center. The hotel will have five stars and a capacity of 220 rooms, so we will have almost 5,000 hotel rooms of various categories and brands within a radius of 5 kilometers from the Sava Center. ” – says Kristina Mirosavljević.

Construction of this hotel is scheduled to begin at the end of 2022. “When it is completed, we will get a complete structure of the business district in a location that is close to the city center and Belgrade airport, which will be a great competitive advantage of our country in the international market.” – they point out from the Sava Center.

Contractors of the Sava Center reconstruction

“The desire to restore the old splendor to one of the symbols of Belgrade influenced us to choose with great care collaborators on this project.”

Reconstruction is entrusted domestic companies, and they were most careful when choosing the general contractor, because it is a building that is a cultural monument.

“The general contractor will be the company Adriatic, facade contractor Armontthe designer Centroprojekt, while we entrusted the expert supervision to the company Zoling. ” – says Kristina Mirosavljević.

Challenges in reconstruction

The reconstruction of a building of cultural significance is in itself a serious challenge. In this case, it is an object that extends to almost 100,000 square meters, in which there have been no significant investments for years. The facade, which has been leaking for a long time, there are no adequate cooling and heating systems, installations, equipment and furniture are worn out, or largely out of order, and all that made this space inadequate.

“It is necessary to do extensive reconstruction, technological modernization and increase the flexibility of the use of space, in order to respond to modern requirements of the congress industry. We are considering the possibility of introduction energy efficient solutions which will affect the preservation of the environment of our city. ” – says Mirosavljević for our portal.

Reviving the spirit and reputation of the Sava Center

According to the plan, the doors of the Sava Visitor Center will be open at the end of 2023.

“We will hold on ambitious plan and reorganize the Sava Center so that it becomes a congress hub for the entire Balkans, which is not foreign to this facility since it was marked as the top 10 congress centers in the world in the 80’s. “

Unfortunately, from the moment it was built, more than four decades ago, the tooth of time deleted the Sava Center from this list.

“Our idea is to revive the old spirit and reputation of the Sava Center and to offer our fellow citizens content that makes them want to come to this facility every day.” – concludes Mirosavljević for our portal.
