Want to become an astronaut for the European Space Agency? Now’s your chance!

The European Space Agency is recruiting new astronauts for the first time in 11 years. The agency said it hopes to get people to the moon later this decade.

Recruitment for new posts for the European Space Agency (ESA) will begin on 31 March 2021 and will run until 28 May 2021. The Agency urges women to apply for these posts to increase gender diversity in the Agency. The agency is also working on the idea of recruiting astronauts with disabilities through the Parastronaut Feasibility Project.

“Europe is at the heart of space exploration. To go further than we have ever been, we must look further than we have ever sought, ”said ESA Director General Jan Wörner. “This recruitment process is a first step and I look forward to following the Agency’s developments in all areas of space exploration and innovation with our international partners in the coming years.”

You can find the requirements to become an astronaut on the web ESA Astronaut training requirements in English (being able to speak and read English is also one of the conditions).
