The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met tonight in the Presidency of Serbia with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov.

Vučić and Lavrov addressed the media after the meeting.

The President of Serbia stated that Serbia has very good cooperation with Russia.

– I am very proud to say that we have very good relations with Russia. I do not hide it and I think that it should be pointed out with pride because it is an interest and an expression of centuries-old friendship – he pointed out.

Also, the President of Serbia thanked Russia for preserving its territorial integrity, for good political cooperation, but also for the construction of the gas pipeline.

– We are satisfied with the development of our bilateral relations – said Vučić and added that he also thanked President Putin and expressed his desire and hope to meet with the Russian leader by the end of the year.

– This was the most open and honest conversation so far, although I have known Mr. Lavrov for many years – said Aleksandar Vučić.

The President of Serbia reminded of the help of Russia in the fight of the Serbian people and Serbia against the coronavirus.

– We do not forget that kind of help and support – said Vučić.

The president says he briefed Lavrov on objective fears over the situation in the region and reiterated that Serbia would remain a military neutral country.

He pointed out that, despite the crown, the foreign trade exchange between Serbia and Russia is growing.

– We are especially pleased with the help of the Russian Federation in ensuring the energy stability of our country. I am happy that Serbia has a huge benefit from that – he said.

The President of Serbia also emphasized that we are “grateful for the work performed by the Russian railways, which operate the Belgrade-Novi Sad railway with the most difficult part of that railway, the bridge over the Danube, viaducts.”

– We entered the talks on the Pancevo petrochemistry and we will end the talks after November 15 – the Serbian president was clear, who then thanked Lavrov in Russian for his help to Serbia and wished him all the best.
