Satellite operator Eutelsat says it is ready for the voucher initiative by Federal Transport Minister Scheuer (DIGITAL FERNSEHEN reported).

The voucher of 500 euros proposed yesterday by Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer for Internet services via satellite for households with poor broadband connections is expressly welcomed by Eutelsat as a future-oriented proposal. The leading European satellite operator recently put a new generation satellite into operation, Eutelsat Konnect, to give individuals, households, small businesses, schools and other institutions in locations underserved by fast internet an internet perspective with the new high-speed service konnect. This new service offers up to 100 Mbit / s fast internet and is currently being introduced step by step on the German market.

“We are ready for Germany with our new satellite. Our new generation of satellite internet is an immediately available solution for a large number of people who are dependent on home office and homeschooling in these difficult times, but who have to wait many years for fiber-optic connections at their place of residence, sometimes for various reasons. With the voucher, Germany would follow other European countries such as France, Great Britain and Spain, which have had very good experiences with it. The voucher supports users of satellite internet mainly in rural areas with poor internet connections with the acquisition of systems and the installation ”, said Andrew Walwyn, CEO Konnect, a business unit of Eutelsat.

Eutelsat welcomes voucher initiative: Marketing of konnect offer only recently started

The new satellite systems and konnect services offered by Eutelsat, as well as the monthly tariffs, have long been comparable to landline and mobile phone connections. Eutelsat started marketing them in Germany a few weeks ago. Three services are offered for different customer needs. With konnect Easy, users receive a 30 Mbit / s internet service for less than 30 euros a month. The 50 Mbit / s service konnect Zen costs around 45 euros per month and the high-performance konnect Max service with 100 Mbit / s is available for 70 euros. A special feature of all three services is that they have no restrictions or massive throttling in data volume compared to the vast majority of Internet access in Germany via mobile communications.

The provider will put the next beam for Germany on its Eutelsat Konnect satellite into operation at the end of January and can then already cover 92 percent of the area. 100 percent area coverage will be available from the end of March 2021 with an additional beam. Further information on the konnect services can be found in the Internet.
