Slovak skier Petra Vlhová won the opening slalom of the World Cup season on Saturday. In Levi, Finland, she defeated co-Bavarian Mikael Shiffrin of the USA by 31 hundredths. Nemka Lena Dürrová finished third with a gap of 0.84.

Vlhová followed up on Levi’s success a year ago, triumphing in both slaloms at the Finnish resort last year. She has already won her 21st World Championship triumph, with a total of 46 podiums in her account. She was second fourteen times and third eleven times.

Vlhova is doing well in Levi, she also won in the north of Europe in 2017. The year before, she took third place and in 2018 she finished second, in both cases Shiffrin triumphed.
