Suara.com – The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Zainudin Amali was a guest speaker on the second day of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) of the Kosgoro 1957 Institute of Business and Informatics (IBI), virtually, Friday (10/9/2021) afternoon.
On this occasion, Menpora Amali was given the opportunity to present material with the theme ‘The role of students as job creators through entrepreneurship’.
Starting his presentation, Minister of Youth and Sports Amali expressed his appreciation to IBI Kosgoro 1957, because it focuses on developing and producing human resources in the fields of business and informatics.
“I appreciate and am happy to hear what the rector and vice chancellor have said that the core areas of business at IBI Kosgoro are business and informatics. And indeed that is the demand of the current conditions,” he said.

According to Menpora Amali, the challenges for students after they graduate are increasingly complex and tough, where there are many competitors, both from domestic and foreign university graduates. With the existence of entrepreneurship courses which are mandatory courses on this campus, entrepreneurial knowledge becomes good capital for students.
“We certainly don’t want graduates from our campus, once he graduates, he ends up going here and there carrying a diploma, applying for jobs and quite a lot of competitors. There are quite a lot of competitors from universities in Indonesia, both private or private universities and state universities. Especially when we talk to university graduates from abroad. So it is very appropriate that IBI Kosgoro places entrepreneurship courses as a compulsory subject,” he said.
According to Menpora Amali, this is in line with the 5 priority programs for 2020-2024 that have been prepared by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. One of them is empowering youth to be creative, innovative, independent, and competitive as well as fostering an entrepreneurial spirit.
“Why do we bring up this priority program, because we are well aware that the progress of a nation is determined by the level of prosperity of the people. A prosperous society is measured by the level or percentage of the people who are engaged in entrepreneurship,” he explained.
When compared to developed countries such as China and the United States, the number of business actors is around 10 percent. Indonesia is even still far behind neighboring Malaysia, which has reached 5 percent. Meanwhile, Indonesia is only around 3 percent.

“This is what made us finally come up with such a priority program,” he said.
On the other hand, in the future Indonesia will be faced with a demographic bonus, where the productive age will be more than the unproductive. Therefore, it must be prepared for the younger generation, especially students, to have provisions other than academics, namely entrepreneurship.
It is important to do this so that after college students do not just become job applicants, but become job creators, because currently the job opportunities are getting smaller day by day.
“Especially at times of a pandemic like today, where there are layoffs or layoffs, there are fewer job opportunities and there are more job seekers. This is between supply and demand is not balanced.
That’s why we at Kemenpora prioritize the program,” he explained.
Thus, he encourages IBI Kosgoro students to have the ability, creativity, innovation, independence, strength and competitiveness. So that they are not marginalized and even become the burden of educated unemployment.
“IBI Kosgoro 1957 has established entrepreneurship as its core, I strongly agree, thus this produces graduates of students who become job creators, job providers. We don’t want graduates of IBI Kosgoro 1957 to become job seekers, depending on other people here and there,” he hoped.
Menpora Amali assessed that students studying at IBI Kosgoro 1957 had chosen the right campus. Because not all campuses equip their students with entrepreneurial knowledge.
“You’re not wrong, you’re in the right place and you’re in the right place,” he said.
However, the Minister of Youth and Sports reminded them to continue to learn and improve their skills, because lectures alone are not enough. However, it must be accompanied by an increase in entrepreneurial skills.
Menpora Amali advised new students who took part in the PKKMB to make the best use of this PPKMB so that they could get to know the campus and the academic process better.
“If you don’t prepare yourself, it’s hard going to college. But if you prepare yourself and take advantage of this PKKMB, then hopefully you won’t be there for long and target 3 years or how many semesters to be there. I hope that you will be able to finish quickly and of course you will have academic skills and entrepreneurial skills,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Chancellor of IBI Kosgoro 1957, Dr. Haswan Yunaz appreciated and expressed his gratitude for the presence and time of Menpora Amali in the PKKMB of the university he leads.
In addition, he is committed to supporting the Kemenpora program to produce young entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
“We support the minister’s program on how to give birth to new entrepreneurs needed for national development. We thank the minister who has succeeded in reinvigorating the spirit of Indonesia’s young generation. Not only in the field of entrepreneurship, in the field of youth roles. achievement,” he said.
