Vila Nova de Foz Côa. GNR rescues “very weakened” Barn Owl

A Barn Owl was rescued, this Monday, by the Environmental Protection Center (NPA) of Pinhel, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa.

According to a statement from the National Republican Guard (GNR) released today, the military received an alert from a popular saying that he had found and collected the adult animal, in the town of Hortas do Douro.

“NPA elements went to the place where they rescued him, finding that he was quite weakened”, indicates the GNR, adding that the owl was transported to the Center for Ecology, Recovery and Surveillance of Wild Animals (CERVAS) in Gouveia for “monitoring and recovery of their state of health and subsequent return to their natural habitat”.

The security force recommends the population to use the SOS Ambiente e Território Line (808 200 520) when reporting violations or clarifying doubts.
