Hundreds of people attended the funeral of a 24-year-old Ukrainian activist killed by Russians in Izium on Saturday in Kyiv.
People gathered in Kyiv to pay tribute to the young man.
Roman Ratushnyi was killed on June 9 around the eastern Ukrainian city of Izium while fighting Russian troops.
The 24-year-old was a teenage protester during the months of demonstrations that overthrew Ukraine’s pro-Russian leader Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. He was among the first protesters
He was also known as an environmental activist in Kyiv, who led a campaign to protect a park.
Some of those present at the funeral were heard shouting, “Heroes never die!”
From the square, the participants left in a long silent column behind the coffin to Independence Square.
