Former president of the municipality of Bajina Basta, Vesna Đurić (SNS), was re-elected to that position, by the votes of the parliamentary majority made up of the Progressives.
After a heated debate during the constitutive session of the Municipal Assembly, Đurić said that “representatives of the opposition are in the local parliament after a long time”, and that “it is good to hear a different opinion”.
“We are opponents who work in the interest of the municipality, and all ideas and suggestions will be useful.” The Assembly is not as it was in 2020, when the opposition did not go to the polls, but we are all citizens of Bajina Basta who will, in their own way, contribute to its development. We will not run away from any good idea, if it is in the interest of the progress of the municipality “, said Đurić, who was the only candidate for that position.
24 SNS councilors voted for her, as many as that party has in the new parliamentary convocation. Milenko Ordagic was elected her deputy by the same number of votes.
Out of the two candidates for the President of the Assembly, the ruling majority also elected Mladen Lukić with 24 votes, who had previously held that position, while Uroš Đokić, the opposition candidate, received the support of 15 councilors.
Nedeljko Rakić, Dragić Glišić, Ivan Milekić, Dejan Timotijević and Dragan Todorović were elected to the Municipal Council.
SPS councilors did not vote for the representatives of the new government, while the representatives of the opposition were against the proposed personnel decisions.
Uros Djokic (NS) said that the opposition “was not surprised by the election of representatives of the new government”.
“The opposition in the local parliament consists of five lists, but we agreed to act together, without attacks. Our goal is to point out the omissions and mistakes in the work of the local government and to correct that, if possible, “said Djokic.
“All members of the opposition,” he added, “will come regularly to parliamentary sessions, talk to citizens about their problems and represent their interests.”
The new-old government in Bajina Basta was formed after the early local elections, which, along with the parliamentary and presidential elections, were held on April 3.
The citizens of Bajina Basta had to go to the polls, because at the end of last year, Vesna Đurić resigned from the position of mayor, which was synchronously done by several of her party colleagues and leaders of local self-governments in Serbia. presidential elections, managed to hold and local elections.
Regardless of her resignation, the Government of Serbia appointed Vesna Đurić as the president of the Provisional Authority, which took over the competencies of the local government, and she led the list of councilors of the Progressives in the recent local elections.
In the local assembly, which has 45 councilors, the SNS has 24, which is six less than in the 2020 elections, the opposition coalition “Uros Djuric-United for the Victory of Bajina Basta” (DS and NS) nine, the SPS-JS coalition six or three less than before, Healthy Serbia three, SDS two and Dveri one councilor.
