Venezuela has registered the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, according to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
“RDIF announces registration of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus Sputnik V by the Ministry of Health of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” RDIF said in a statement on Wednesday.
Registration was carried out as part of an emergency use authorization. Under a similar procedure, Sputnik V was previously registered in Argentina, Bolivia, Serbia, Algeria and Palestine. The vaccine is also registered in Belarus.
The supplies will be secured through RDIF’s international partners in India, China, South Korea and other countries.
RDIF CEO Kirill Dmitriev said he expects new vaccine partnerships with Latin American countries in the coming weeks.
