Unusual case for “a strong team”

The TV commissioners Otto Garber and Linett Wachow determine in the ZDF crime on Saturday this time in the world of fragrances. Some things stink of bad intrigue.

There has probably never been such a murder in the history of the German television crime novel. A company heir is being prepared for an organ transplant in an operating room, when a stranger in a black motorcycle outfit and helmet rushes in. He kills the drugged patient with two shots in the upper body. This is how the new episode of the ZDF crime series “A strong team” begins.

In “You only live twice” this Saturday at 8:15 pm, Otto Garber (Florian Martens) and Linett Wachow (Stefanie Stappenbeck) come across traces that go in completely different directions. First of all, there is the organ. “Where’s the liver?” Is the surprised cry of the grumpy policeman at the crime scene. Of course, it has long since been inserted into another body, the medical director Dr. Lara Brenneke (Gesine Cukrowski) teaches.

A big surprise, however, is the excited recipient – it is the donor’s mother. And that was anything but planned. Because the young Jasmin (Hanna Hilsdorf) had only made a living donation of part of her liver to save her friend, the perfume group heir Lukas Schack (Fabian Syring).

First the ZDF crime thriller “You only live twice” then the Schmonzette “You only live once”

Jasmin once met the terminally ill fragrance designer while visiting her mother. Now, of all people imaginable, their hated mother, of all people, receives the precious gift in the same clinic. The doctors had to act.

Nobody had expected the attack, the organ had not been prepared for a longer transport. Did Jasmin’s brother play fate because he cannot donate himself? Was it the seedy stepfather? And Jasmin’s friend Heiko Fessler, played by the passionate TV villain Florian Bartholomäi, is hiding something.

While Jasmin’s family is about the last questions, the dead man’s company is evidently only governed by disdainful money and intrigues. The dead Lukas Schack had been bullied by his brother Benedict (Max Krause) despite his talents from the fragrance development. The investigators are quickly certain: something stinks here.

You have to give credit to the creators of the Berlin ZDF crime series for getting the taboo topic of transplantation on the best slot. The fact that as a viewer of this 83rd episode of “A Strong Team” you risk losing track of the tracks at some point after the strong start is just a minor flaw.

The jack-of-all-trades Sputnik (Jaecki Schwarz), who pretends to be the head of the commissioner’s office in front of relatives, is once again providing relaxation.
