Epidemiological safety of schoolchildren and teachers has become one of the main priorities of this academic year in Daugavpils. Most of the classes in the city’s schools are now being taught remotely, and the educational process has undergone dramatic changes. In order to maximally protect students who, hopefully, will still return to school soon, and to reduce the risks of COVID-19 infection, “thermal cameras” or “thermal imagers” are installed in Daugavpils schools – devices that allow to identify people with increased body temperature.
Cameras are installed indoors, at the entrances to educational institutions, in places where they maximally cover the flow of people. Body temperature is measured simultaneously for 20 objects with an accuracy of 0.5 degrees. In addition, a mark appears on the screen about the use of a protective mask by a person: whether he has it when measuring the temperature or not.
The number of cameras in each school depends on the number of entrance doors. Most thermal imagers are installed in the State Gymnasium – there are 4 of them (for each entrance). In all other schools, 3 or less heat chambers are installed.
The installation is carried out by JSC “G4S Latvia”, which offered the lowest price.
Each camera together with the installation cost the municipality 2,252 EUR. The total amount of the contract is EUR 76,580.24 including VAT.
All work and cameras are covered by a three-year warranty.
