Until the end of May, The Tartarus Key will be released on Steam and consoles – a mystical horror in the style of PS1 games, where you need to think, not fight

Publisher Armor Games Studios and developers from the Portuguese studio Vertical Reach (Aviary Attorney, Tangrams Deluxe) announced the release date of their first-person mystical horror game The Tartarus Key, made in the style of PS1 games.

Users of The Tartarus Key will play the role of the girl Alex Young, who one day, along with other victims of the kidnapping, wakes up in a strange mansion full of puzzles, traps and surveillance cameras.

Players will have to help Alex and other captives escape (or let them down), as well as find out the truth about their kidnapping. This will not be easy to do. In addition, the heroine now and then sees some kind of devilry.

Inspired by classic horror games from the PS1 era and beyond (specific examples not named), The Tartarus Key places more emphasis on story and mystery than combat and chases. The game will need to think, not fight.

Promise a story with “unexpected twists and deadly surprises”multitude “disturbing and strange” scenes, puzzle style “room escape” and three different endings.

The Tartarus Key will go on sale May 31 for PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. A demo with the first act is available on the Steam page. The game only supports English.
