The university will be able to organize large lectures in the coming academic year without proving infectivity, the government decided on Friday. On the contrary, the general rule for academic celebrations is that if more than 20 people attend, they will have to prove themselves by a test or proof of vaccination or covid-19.
This follows from Friday’s change in the measures of the Ministry of Health. The interpretation was confirmed by the spokesman of the Ministry of Education, Ondřej Macura. The Ministry of Health stated in a press release that university students will not have to prove themselves with a certificate of infectivity. This obligation should remain for educational events and examinations that are outside of university studies.
The Ministry of Education stated in early September that it would probably not prepare any special measures for the operation of universities with the Ministry of Health. There is a duty to test for covid-19 on dormitories and wear veils in buildings outside the classroom. Schools will probably be able to start the semester in person. In the event of a worsening of the epidemic, the capacity of lectures could be reduced, the Minister of Education Robert Plaga (for YES) told Radiožurnál at the beginning of September. The academic year begins in most schools at the turn of September and October. However, the Minister himself would recommend giving large lectures online.
“I am glad that the Ministry of Health, on the basis of negotiations with the Ministry of Education, clarified the interpretation and prepared an amendment to the extraordinary measure for the organization of swimming lessons and the operation of universities,” Plaga commented on Friday’s government decision. Today, at the same time as the rules for the academic year, it allowed the organization of swimming lessons at primary schools without the obligation to test.
According to the current measure, only students who pass a test with a negative result or submit proof of vaccination or that they have recovered from covid-19 can be accommodated in the dormitories. The antigen test must not be older than 72 hours, the PCR test is valid for seven days. Alternatively, students can undergo a self-test on site. The self-test performed under the supervision of an online healthcare professional must not be older than 24 hours. Accommodation must be proved by a test before entering the dormitory and then every seven days. The obligation is to be valid until 31 December.
