United States announces humanitarian aid of more than 200 million for Sudan

The United States Government announced this Tuesday a new humanitarian aid package worth US$245 million for Sudan and neighboring countries.
This support was sent to fill in the damage caused by the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Reaction Forces (RSF) paramilitaries.
“With this funding [de cerca de 228 milhões de euros]our humanitarian partners can respond to the new needs arising from the ongoing conflict, which has displaced around 840,000 people in the interior of the country and forced another 250,000 to flee since April 15”, when fighting began between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary RSF, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
In the statement, the US Department of State states that the announcement raises this support from Washington to Sudan and neighboring countries – Chad, Egypt, South Sudan and the Central African Republic – to 816 million euros in the 2023 fiscal year.
