Ukrainian president confirms start of battle for Donbass
Voldymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian president, confirmed this Monday, through a video posted on the Telegram platform, that Russia has launched a new militia offensive in the breakaway Donbass region.
“We can now confirm that Russian troops have started the battle for Donbass, which they have been preparing for a long time. A large part of the Russian army is now dedicated to this offensive”, says Ukraine’s leader in a video, adding that “regardless of how many soldiers are there” the country will fight and defend itself”.
“We’re going to do this every day,” he stressed.
On what is the 54th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the United Nations released a data update that reported that 2,072 civilians have been killed so far, with 2,818 injured. The number, however, may be higher.
