Ukrainian invents murder in hope that police will clear the streets of snow

The man called the police last Saturday night and told officers he killed his father-in-law. He would have stabbed him several times in the chest.

Arrest team

“At the same time, he warned the police to come with a snowplow to arrest him,” a spokesman for the regional police said. According to the man, there was no other way to get to him because of all the snowfall. That writes The Guardian.

Officers decided to look for the man. They didn’t take a snow plow but an all-terrain vehicle.

“Upon arrival it turned out that the man’s father-in-law was indeed present in the house,” said the police spokesperson. “He was alive and unharmed. Nobody had attacked him.”

The ‘murderer’ then admitted that he had made up the murder in order to clear his street of snow.

Euro 3.50 fine

Earlier in the day, the municipality had already cleared the street of snow, but the man was ‘not satisfied’ with the result.

The man risks a fine of 119 Ukrainian hryvnia (3.50 euros) for the false report.
