Ukraine reports further victims of Russian shelling and rocket attacks

“Five civilians died. They were all women in the village at the entrance to the multi-storey period,” said local government chief Stepan Maselsky.

After weeks of relative calm, Russian invading troops have recently intensified shelling in the Kharkov region, located in the north-east of the country.

According to regional governor Oleh Syněhubov, 15 civilians, including an eight-year-old child, died in Russian fire on Wednesday.

Two local communal workers were killed during an artillery shelling in Chuhuiv today, and three others died in a rocket attack in Zolochiv, Ukrinform reported, citing municipalities in the Kharkiv region.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), at least 4,634 civilians, including 320 children, have died since the Russian invasion of Ukraine since the start of the war. In addition, the office reports 5769 injuries.

At the same time, the OHCHR pointed out that the actual numbers of victims are likely to be significantly higher, as the receipt of information from some areas is delayed and many cases have not yet been confirmed.
